Over ten years ago, I started my first indie label.

It was mostly for fun, a way to release my tracks no one else wanted to touch. One thing I quickly learned was that consistency was key. Releasing music regularly was a boost, but there was something else, more powerful, that would ultimately make all the difference: getting real, detailed feedback and using it to improve.

At first, I used to ask my friends and family for feedback.

They were supportive. But their comments were always the same:“It’s good,” “You have talent,” “It’s getting somewhere.”

So I started to send my music to other labels. All I got was silence. The very few replies I got were harsh:“Too raw,” “Not catchy,” “Not ready to be signed.”

That did hurt.

That kind of feedback could have stopped me in my tracks, but instead, it pushed me to get better.

I created my own way of improving. I’d listen to my tracks, leave timed comments on my Soundcloud uploads, and then work on fixing those areas one by one. This method worked like magic. My music got better, and I started doing the same thing with artists on my label. It helped them improve too.

I even started giving feedback on random demos, but it became too time-consuming.

I had a job that paid the bills and a family that needed my attention. I couldn’t do it all. That’s when I had the idea for Tunebax.

Tunebax is all about giving artists the detailed feedback they need to get better,

without them having to go through the same tough process I did. My journey showed me that feedback is more than just helpful—it’s necessary. And now, with Tunebax, I’m excited to help other artists grow, just like I did.
